Philip Jennings on ILO Global Commission

UNI is proud to announce that General Secretary Philip Jennings will be representing the interests of workers on ILOs new Global Commission for the Future of Work

Today at a packed out conference room at the ILO, Guy Rider announced the launch of the ILOs new Global Commission on the Future of Work.

UNIs Philip Jennings will be representing the interests and concerns of workers in the Commission. Philip comments:

"I am proud to be part of this groundbreaking work. We are facing many challenges already brought about by digital innovations, new business models, market consolidation, climate change, globalisation and migration."

The 22-person strong Commission job is to undertake an in-depth examination of the future of work that can provide the analytical basis for the delivery of social justice in the 21st century. Its work concludes at the ILO Conference in 2019.

Jennings adds:

"UNI Global Union has given substantial priority to the future of work, and we have abundant information and insights to share. From the necessity of workers' data protection, our call for ethical AI, our analyses of job and task disruption and our call for a Just Transition. We have dared seek new partnerships and together fight for a future of work that is empowering for all."
